Bachelor of Arts: Interdisciplinary Studies, concentration in environmental planning and policy

This program combines courses from the disciplines of geography, mathematics, economics, philosophy, life and physical sciences, and the social sciences. Students develop an understanding of planning and policy issues, as well as analytical skills, as they relate to the environment. Hands-on experience is gained through field and lab work; the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and image analysis software; domestic and international travel courses; research projects; opportunities to present at state, regional, or national public forums; and internships with public agencies or private companies. Students are prepared for careers in planning, policy, and environmental regulation, or for graduate study.
