  GER 101H - Elementary German I
An introduction to German that emphasizes basic speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills within a matrix of general cultural studies. Intended for students with no previous background in the language, or not more than one year of high school German. (Pass/Fail option) Once a year. CCP

  GER 102H - Elementary German II
A continuation of GER 101H, emphasizing further development of basic communicative skills. Prerequisite(s): GER 101H or permission of instructor. (Pass/Fail option) Once a year. CCP

  GER 201H - Intermediate German
Emphasis on oral and written fluency through readings, discussion and reports.  Classes conducted in German, and materials deal largely with German culture.  Prerequisite(s):  GER 102H or permission of instructor.  (Pass/Fail option) Every two years.  CCP

  GER 397 - Independent Study in German
Advanced work in German directed by a faculty member. Selected topics may include aspects of the language, literature, and civilization of Germany or of other German-speaking areas. Prerequisite(s): Permission of instructor. (Pass/Fail option) Every year. CCP
