  SKI 120 - Orientation to the Snowsports Industry
The purpose of SKI 120 is to give students an overview of the snowsport industry through the utilization of a variety of snowsport professionals. The course will be taught through the use of classroom lectures, demonstrations, guest lectures, and attending industry trade shows. Students will gain knowledge, skills and understandings that are specific to the snowsport industry. Students will begin to develop a professional rather than recreational view of the industry. After completing this course, students will be able to select and identify where and how they would like to begin or further their participation in the ski industry. This is a required first course for all students in the UMF Ski Industries Program. Fall semester.

  SKI 121 - Introduction to Snowsports Business and Management
This course is designed to allow students to examine various management and business aspects of the snowsports industry. Students will reinforce their knowledge from SKI 120. In addition, students will begin to identify and develop personal skills in resume writing and public presentation. Prerequisite(s): SKI 120 or permission of instructor. Spring semester.

  SKI 177 - Selected Topics in the Snowsports Industry
An in-depth study of selected topics specific to the snowsports industry. Topics will vary according to the expertise of the instructor, availability of guest speakers, and current events in the snowsport industry. Prerequisite(s): SKI 120 Every semester.

  SKI 220 - Teaching/Coaching Applications in Alpine Snowsports

This course is designed to introduce students to the basic methodology and technical skills required of a professional ski teacher and coach. Students are encouraged to actively engage with professional ski associations in their specialization and prepare for professional certification exams. Prerequisite(s): SKI 120. Spring semester.

  SKI 221 - Snowsports Business and Management II
Students will examine various management and business aspects of the snowsports industry. Students will reinforce knowledge from SKI 121, in addition to researching selected topics within snowsports management. This course will prepare students for snowsports business practica. Prerequisite(s): SKI 120, SKI 121. Fall semester.

  SKI 223 - Theory and Methods in Alpine Skiing
The course is designed to reinforce knowledge acquired in SKI 220. Students will demonstrate the knowledge and apply the skills necessary to meet a wide range of learner needs. This course will prepare students for alpine coaching and teaching practica. Prerequisite(s): SKI 120, SKI 220 or permission of instructor. Fall semester.

  SKI 225 - Methods in Alpine Course Setting
The class will focus on setting practice courses, sectional drill courses, and USSA (United States Ski and Snowboard Association) and FIS (International Ski Federation) sanctioned courses. The class is designed to be hands-on and will utilize Titcomb Mountain for the on-hill portion of the class. The indoor classroom portion will begin in late March. Students are required to buy a Titcomb Mountain UMF student seasonal pass. Prerequisite(s): Permission of instructor. Spring semester.

  SKI 295 - Practicum in Snowsports Teaching/Coaching
Designed to offer ski industry students the opportunity to practice newly-learned skills under supervision in a field environment as preparation for the internship. Prerequisite(s): SKI 220. Every semester.

  SKI 296 - Practicum in Snowsports Business
Designed to offer ski industry students the opportunity to practice newly-learned skills under supervision in a field environment as preparation for the internship. Prerequisite(s): SKI 120, SKI 121 or permission of instructor. Every semester.

Credit: 2-4

  SKI 297 - Independent Study in the Snowsports Industry
An independent study allows a student the opportunity to pursue independent projects under the direction of a Ski Industries Program instructor. Prerequisite(s): SKI 120, or permission of instructor; completed independent study form. Every semester.

  SKI 300 - Business Applications for Community Snowsports/Recreation Areas
This course will focus on the structure and business applications for community-based snowsports recreation areas. The course will include field trips and group projects that will allow students to work directly with recreation management teams. Prerequisite(s): SKI 120, SKI 121, SKI 221, BUS 210. Once every two years.

  SKI 395 - Internship: Professional Snowsports Coaching/Teaching
This course offers a supervised experience for students in a professional setting which will allow students to apply and further develop their skills as a professional ski teacher and coach. Selection and placement is determined cooperatively by the internship coordinator and student. Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or above and permission of instructor. (Pass/Fail only) Every semester.

Credit: 4-12

  SKI 396 - Internship: Snowsports Business
This course offers a supervised experience for students in a professional setting which will allow students to apply and further develop their skills as a professional in the snowsports industry and with snowsports-oriented business. Selection and placement is determined cooperatively by the internship coordinator and students. Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or above and permission of instructor. (Pass/Fail only)  Every semester.
