  INS 001 - International Study Away
(No credit) With prior approval, students may participate in study abroad programs offered by institutions other than UMF. Credit for courses taken abroad should be pre-approved by the student's academic advisor and will be analyzed and awarded as transfer credit after the program has been completed. Registration for this course is required but is for administrative purposes only. Prerequisite(s): Approved for non-UMF international study abroad program. Every semester.

  INS 280 - Explorations Abroad

In this interdisciplinary course, students will study various aspects of a foreign culture, travel to another country, and meet in seminars to discuss their observations and reflect upon their experiences. Each student will communicate his/her new understandings through an appropriate medium such as: a collection of reflective writings, sketches, photo essay, web site, or mulimedia presentation. A trip fee will be charged in addition to tuition. May be repeated up to a total of 8 credits. Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing and permission of instructor. At least once in a three-year cycle. CCP

  INS 390 - Semester in Beijing
UMF students may study Chinese language and culture at Beijing University of Technology in Beijing, China.  Students earn 15 credits for a combination of coursework in the skill areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Prerequisite(s): At least two semesters of college Chinese and permission of instructor. May be repeated for up to 30 credits. (Pass/Fail option) Every semesteer. CCP

  INS 391 - Semester in Oxford
UMF Students may spend the spring semester on exchange at Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, England. Students earn 16 credits for successful completion of four 4-credit courses. (A program fee will be charged in addition to regular tuition.) Every year. CCP

  INS 392 - Semester in Komi
UMF students may study Russian language and culture at Komi Pedagogical Institute in Syktyvkar, Russia. Students earn 12-15 credits for a combination of coursework in such topics as grammar, literature, cultural studies and other topics pertinent to their majors. With prior approval, students may enroll in 12-14 credits abroad plus one 1-3 credit independent study with a regular UMF faculty member. Prerequisite(s): At least two semesters of college Russian and permission of instructor. (Pass/Fail option) Every semester. CCP

  INS 393 - Semester in France: LeMans or Semester in France: Angers
Intensive study of French language and culture at either Universite du Maine in LeMans, France or at Universite d'Angers. Students earn 12-15 credits for a combination of coursework in such topics as grammar, literature, cultural studies and other topics pertinent to their majors. May be repeated for a total of up to 30 credits. Prerequisite(s): At least two semesters of college French and permission of instructor. (Pass/Fail option) Every semester. CCP
