About The Program

This NCATE-accredited program has an outstanding reputation for the education and placement of elementary teachers. It is an intense, hands-on program that combines theory and practice through extensive experience in the classroom. The program includes a semester-long sophomore practicum, a literature/reading block experience and a full-semester, two-placement student teaching experience in the senior year. Using campus resources such as the Children's Literature Room, the Assistive Technology Center and Everyone's Resource Depot, students work side-by-side with faculty doing research and applying what they have learned in nearby public schools. The concentration in Music reinforces the Liberal Arts foundation of the Elementary Education program.
