than two courses at the 100 level. Appropriate areas of study
are the education, geography, history, literature, political
science, sociology and other aspects of countries and cultures
other than the United States. No more than nine of these may

Second-year competency level in a foreign language. This
competency can be achieved by taking college courses or by
